Animation Image Coding

Our
approach for describing/encoding animation images is to decompose inputs to
line drawings, homogeneous color regions and remaining textures. This technique can be applied to
narrow band data transmission such as mobile and Internet video applications. Lines
and contour of homogeneous color regions are approximated by spline curves
whereas residuals are encoded by DCT. This representation can avoid blocking
effects and “mosquito noise” that often appear in the conventional DCT-based
approach. |
